I was there
to visit
your underground parlor
I met the twins and the cat
purple and black

some lost boys
and a man with a hook
that’s where nightmares
come into being
from a land of shadows
and blood red queens

severed heads
and talking mice
ghosts and murderers
dance in the moonlight

I came to visit
and I came to stay

“To walk around inside a library and see all the books and take one out, at random, and read at the back of it… and just to be there in those rooms with all the books and all their stories…that’s heaven for me and makes me truly happy! It’s so soothing…”
— something I wrote years ago and it’s still very true, now more than ever with my work and everything, @the-librarian-geek (via the-librarian-geek)

We bookworms have our priorities all wrong…
Yea no, who am I kidding…
Of course it’s much more important to read a book in one sitting until morning than going in to work feeling alert and fresh

I missed my bus twice.
Because
I was reading a book.
Or more like was immersed in it.
I would call that a normal day
In the life of a bookworm.
Honestly.
In the end I had to run
So I didn’t end up missing it a third time.

Except I usually miss my stop…

I have done both. :)

Yes that too… haha

Yesterday, a hour or so before we closed the library for lunch, a bunch of students, from the school next door, visited. A few boys, around 11 years old or so, were talking real loud so I shushed them . When I did this, there was a girl - about the same age as the boys -  she was by the information desk where I was sitting - who looked me right in the eye and told me with a giggle that  “when I was little, I believed that if you weren’t quiet in the library, the librarians turned into monsters”.

-

I hadn’t the time to answer her though before the boys interrupted us, by climbing on the interior - kids huh - otherwise I would have told her that yes of course we become monsters - especially when you’re not behaving as you should at a library ;)…
